SANTA ANA, Calif. (KABC) -- Police Tuesday identified two drivers who were killed when a speeding car going the wrong way crashed into multiple vehicles in Santa Ana.

One driver killed in the crash was identified as 29-year-old Jorge Andres Delgado. He crashed into a car driven by 32-year-old Leticia Placencia Alvarado, according to Santa Ana police.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Five passengers in a third car - ages 39, 19, 18, 11 and 1 - were hospitalized with injuries described as not life threatening.

The crash happened around 6:40 p.m. Monday at Main Street and Warner Avenue. Four cars were involved in the collision, but no one in the fourth car was hurt.

Police said Delgado was driving the wrong way at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash. Several incoming cars were able to get out of the way before Delgado hit three vehicles, police said.

An investigation is ongoing.
