Suspect in custody after chase ends in multi-car crash in El Monte

EL MONTE, Calif. (KABC) -- A man was taken into custody after leading police on a chase that ended in a multi-vehicle crash in El Monte.

It happened just after 10 p.m. Tuesday. The pursuit lasted 20 minutes before the suspect crashed into two other cars near Santa Anita and East Garvey Avenue, according to the El Monte Police Department.

Video from the scene shows the cars with severe damage, including one that was flipped on its side.

One person was hurt but declined further treatment.

Police say the suspect was on probation for another felony charge, but additional details were not available.
