Suspect drives onto Mid City curb at end of high-speed chase

MID CITY, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A woman was arrested Friday morning after leading authorities on a high-speed and erratic chase across Southern California freeways and surface streets.

The pursuit of the white sedan began on the northbound 405 Freeway at Moraga Drive in West Los Angeles. Police tried to pull the driver over for making an illegal U-turn.

The driver traveled at a high rate of speed across the 101 Freeway, reaching speeds over 90 miles per hour at one point and eventually making her way over to Encino.

As the driver wound through Sepulveda Boulevard, AIR7 encountered low fog and could no longer follow the chase safely.

However, AIR7 managed to come across the chase at Venice and La Cienega boulevards in the Mid City area after the suspect got off the 10 Freeway.

Once the driver got off the freeway, she opened the door in an apparent attempt to jump out of the car while it was still moving before it got stuck up on a curb.

The driver shut the car door once again, leading to a brief standoff with authorities. A few minutes later, officers pulled her out of the car and took her into custody.
