4.2 earthquake strikes near Twentynine Palms
A magnitude 4.2 earthquake hit 9.9 miles south of Twentynine Palms on Monday.

TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif. (KABC) -- An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.2 has hit near Twentynine Palms in San Bernardino County on Monday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The temblor struck at 9:26 a.m., about 9.9 miles south of Twentynine Palms and 18 miles east-southeast of Joshua Tree.

The quake was 4.8 miles in depth, the USGS said.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
