Southern California heat wave to last through Sunday
The heat wave across Southern California was expected through at least Sunday, the National Weather Service said.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Temperatures began rising across the Southland Wednesday, heightening the risk of fire and heat-related illnesses, especially for vulnerable residents such as children, homeless, elderly and outdoor workers.

"The hottest conditions are expected Thursday through Sunday, when temperatures will be up to 10 degrees above normal for some inland areas," the National Weather Service said.

On Wednesday, the San Bernardino County Fire Department, along with the organization Safe Kids, held a demonstration to remind parents to never leave their children unattended in a vehicle. Fourteen children have died so far this year from heat stroke across the nation after being left in hot cars.
