The post has reached other powerful Twitter users as well. Actress Gabrielle Union reached out to her Twitter following of 2.5 million to spread the word about Barnes' aunt's killer.
Because of his lengthy contacts and history in the Sacramento area, Barnes and Gabrielle Union's call to action kept an entire city on alert until the suspect was found. It hasn't been determined if the citizen tip was a direct result of Barnes' social media campaign. Regardless, Barnes' efforts in rallying a massive digital audience to find justice is truly an amazing display of the power of social media.
