A pregnant mom who thought she'd have plenty of time to get to the hospital ended up having eight Riverside County firefighters show up to her bedroom and deliver her baby.
Ellyannah Lopez of Gardena may be the smallest preemie ever seen at Cedars-Sinai, but she continues to thrive despite a very low chance of survival.
The family pulled over in the city of Commerce after realizing they weren't going to make it to the hospital in time and the grandmother helped deliver her daughter's child!
"During this viewing, their baby was wrapped tightly in a blanket with his head propped on top of his body in a manner such that those viewing him could not identify that he had been decapitated," according to the statement.
The baby was struggling to breathe when the officer stepped in to help.
For the first time outside of a clinical trial, a woman has given birth to a healthy baby born from a transplanted uterus.
