The company announced in a recent earnings call that it is shutting down 24 stores in the current fiscal year and it intends to close another 10-15 in the 2025 fiscal year.
Best Buy said it laid off 5,000 workers, closed 20 of its big-box stores in each of the past two years and expects to close a higher number this year.
Much of the chain's growth came from delivery and curbside pickup sales. Online sales boomed 174% last quarter, accounting for more than a third of their sales.
In a statement, Walmart said that it did see a massive traffic surge when the next-gen console was released.

Many companies, including Amazon, Macy's and Walmart, are hiring now for roles that last from three to four months.
