On March 18, The New York Times published a detailed investigation into sexual assault allegations against decorated labor leader Cesar Chavez.
Sexual assault allegations against Cesar Chavez have sparked calls to rename streets, schools and other facilities that bear his name.
"He was our hero, and now to see this, it's just devastating," John Quiñones told Eyewitness News, sharing his insight as a former farmworker himself who looked up to Chavez.
After Dolores Huerta said she was "manipulated and pressured into having sex" with Cesar Chavez in the 1960s, Gov. Gavin Newsom and other elected officials reacted to the stunning allegations.
"I can no longer stay silent and must share my own experiences," Huerta said.
The UFW said in a statement that they learned of "deeply troubling" allegations against Chavez that "do not align with their values."
