Sources told ESPN the Big 12 has cut its list of candidates to at least 12 schools: Air Force, BYU, UCF, Cincinnati, Colorado State, UConn, Houston, Rice, South Florida, SMU, Temple and Tulane.
Big 12 coaches voted under the condition of anonymity when polled by ESPN's Brett McMurphy on their preferred expansion candidates. Houston and BYU led the way with five votes each.
