"The Irishman": An inside look at the de-aging visual effects
"The Irishman" visual effects supervisor, Pablo Helman, reveals that Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro have been trying to make this movie for about ten years. Helman was faced with a potentially impossible task: to make Hollywood's titans Al Pacino, Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci look 50 years younger. Working out of Lucasfilm's Industrial Light and Magic in San Francisco, Helman and his team developed special software and a camera rig to get the job done and are now nominated for the Best Visual Effects Academy Award.
