The decision follows a legal settlement with students claiming the testing favored higher-income, privileged students who could afford tutors and strategic test prep.

The University of California Board of Regents voted Thursday to suspend the use of SAT and ACT scores for students applying for admission as freshmen to its nine campuses, which include UCLA and UC Irvine, until fall 2024.
"Neither students nor teachers need to be focused on high-stakes tests during this difficult time," U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos said in a news release.
