Big news for those collecting unemployment payments. Bank of America is out and Money Network is in. Here's what to know about the change.
Amid the investigation of a massive disability scam, EDD stopped paying Kelleigh Martin who couldn't work due to her high-risk pregnancy. Then, she gave birth to her twins prematurely. After hundreds of hours trying to reach an unemployment representative, her bills piled up.
"I can show you my C-section scar. And a birth certificate with all our names on it, and what more could you want?" Alexis Davidson is not the only one experiencing the frustration, as many new moms had to prove they have newborns after they had their benefits shut off for potential fraud.
Kristina Cole and her husband have made about 50 calls to the California EDD to find out about missing benefits. All but one ended with the system disconnecting them.
"It's not like I just decided to ignore their requests. I just sincerely cannot get into my account," said the frustrated worker, who will have to pay back thousands if she can't submit the requested documents by the fast-approaching deadline.
Under new federal rules, about 100,000 people may now be eligible to qualify for unemployment benefits that were previously denied.
