VAN NUYS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead and another person injured outside a Van Nuys bar.
At about 11:45 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to Carlitos Way Cocktail Lounge in the 15200 block of Victory Boulevard, where they found two people had been shot nearby.
One man was pronounced dead across the street from the bar at a Chase bank. He was later identified as 33-year-old Julio Rodriguez.
Another person was transported to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in stable condition.
Los Angeles police said shots were fired outside the bar after an argument broke out between a group of people.
One person was detained by police at the scene, but it was not clear if he had anything to do with the shooting. Police said they were still interviewing him Monday morning, as well as other witnesses.
The suspect was described as a male Hispanic, 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall with a muscular build. He was last seen wearing a white or gray tank top, police said.
Investigators were looking into surveillance footage from nearby businesses to gather more information.
An investigation was ongoing, and a motive was not yet known, police said.
Anyone with information was urged to contact the Los Angeles Police Department.
