Very slight extreme heat relief moves in before more high pressure arrives in SoCal
LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Very slight relief from the extreme heat is in the forecast this week before yet another round of high pressure moves into Southern California.
Most of the region is under either an extreme heat warning or a heat advisory through 8 p.m. Monday. The extreme heat warning could be extended for the desert communities.
Most areas will see a two- to three-degree dip in temperatures heading into Monday and Tuesday.
Then, we're tracking more high pressure coming back into the forecast on Wednesday and Thursday, bumping temperatures back up.
By next weekend, the high pressure should back off, bringing a more significant dip in temperatures.
Los Angeles and Orange counties on Monday will see sunshine with a high of 92 degrees and a low of 61. Temperatures are expected to dip back into the upper-80s by Thursday.
In the valleys and Inland Empire, temperatures on Monday are expected to reach a high of 100 degrees and a low of 69.
Beach communities can expect clouds in the morning followed by afternoon sunshine on Monday, with a high of 78 degrees and a low of 67. Expect waves between 2 and 4 feet.
Mountain communities on Monday will see a high of 88 degrees and a low of 57. Expect highs in the upper-80s all week.
Desert areas will be dangerously hot on Monday, with a high of 106 degrees and a low of 77. Palm Springs is expected to reach 114 degrees. Triple-digit heat is in the forecast all week.
