SoCal temperatures slowly rising ahead of holiday weekend

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Southern California will see mild temperatures as the June Gloom pattern sticks around, but a warmup is in the forecast ahead of the Fourth of July weekend.

By Thursday and Friday, high pressure will slowly begin building across the region as an offshore flow returns, gradually bumping temperatures up heading into the holiday weekend.

Many areas will see highs slightly above average by July 4th.

Los Angeles and Orange counties on Thursday will see partly sunny skies with a high of 75 degrees and a low of 58. Temperatures are expected to warm up to the low-80s by the holiday weekend.

The valleys and Inland Empire can expect clouds in the morning, followed by afternoon sunshine on Thursday, with a high of 81 degrees and a low of 56. Highs are expected to be in the mid-80s by the holiday weekend.

Beach communities on Thursday will see a cloudy June Gloom morning with a high of 71 degrees and a low of 61. Similar conditions are expected for the rest of the week.

Mountain communities can expect mostly sunny conditions on Thursday, with a high of 76 degrees and a low of 40. Highs are expected to climb to the low-80s by the holiday weekend.

Desert areas on Thursday will see a high of 87 degrees and a low of 58, with wind gusts up to 35 mph. Palm Springs is expected to reach 101 degrees.
