June Gloom sticks around SoCal ahead of holiday weekend warmup
LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Southern California will see mild temperatures as the June Gloom pattern sticks around, but a warm-up is in the forecast ahead of the Fourth of July.
Below-average temperatures with thick, June Gloom marine layer clouds are expected to continue into next week.
By Wednesday and Thursday, high pressure will slowly begin building across the region, gradually bumping temperatures up as we approach the holiday weekend.
Many areas will see highs slightly above average by July 4th.
Los Angeles and Orange counties on Sunday will see partly cloudy skies with a high of 74 degrees and a low of 59. Temperatures in the low-to-mid-70s are expected most of the week before a slight warm-up heading into next weekend.
The valleys and Inland Empire can expect clouds in the morning followed by afternoon sunshine on Sunday, with a high of 77 degrees and a low of 57. Highs in the low-80s return on Tuesday before temperatures continue to climb heading toward the holiday weekend.
Beach communities on Sunday will see a 10% chance of drizzle with a high of 70 degrees and a low of 62. Highs in the low-70s and upper-60s are on tap all week.
Mountain communities can expect cool and breezy conditions on Sunday, with a high of 68 degrees and a low of 34. Highs are expected to climb to the upper-70s by next weekend.
Desert areas on Sunday will see a high of 82 degrees and a low of 56, with wind gusts up to 50 mph. Palm Springs is expected to reach 94 degrees.
