Off-duty taxi driver killed in crash on 405 Freeway in Westminster

WESTMINSTER, Calif. (KABC) -- An early morning crash involving an off-duty taxi driver turned deadly on the 405 Freeway in Westminster.

Orange County California Highway Patrol officials said the driver was speeding down the freeway when he crashed near the Goldenwest Street off-ramp around 9:30 p.m. Sunday night.

The car hit a pole and then plowed into a building off the side of the road.

The unidentified driver died at the scene. No one else was injured.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
