WHITTIER, Calif. (KABC) -- Two people were injured in a small explosion at a laboratory in Whittier on Friday.
Authorities responded to the incident at the Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital on the 12400 block of East Washington just before 8 a.m.
Officials say a chemical was being poured into a funnel when it flashed upon exposure to the air or another chemical at the histology lab.
Two people were taken to the hospital's emergency room, but their injuries were described as minor.
Fourteen people were evacuated from the building while a hazardous materials team removed the spilled chemical.
