Vitamin D may aid breast cancer survival

Canadian researchers found patients with low levels of vitamin D when diagnosed with breast cancer had a much higher risk of dying from the disease than those with adequate levels.

People get vitamin D from the sun or through foods and supplements.

Doctors say it's important for healthy bones while similar studies suggest it may protect women from breast cancer development.
