Top 7 dining deals in L.A.

LOS ANGELES The owners of Dominick's in L.A. grew up around big family suppers.

"So when they opened this restaurant, they wanted to do something similar. They wanted to invite all of their friends in, all of the family for an affordable, fun, Sunday evening," said Brandon Bossert, general manager of Dominick's.

Citysearch editor Tara de Lis said Dominick's is a Citysearch favorite.

"They serve down-home, Italian food. Let me tell you, the Sunday supper is an absolute steal. $15 for three courses, excellent bargain. It's serve all night, not a limited time offer, and for $10 more, they throw in a bottle of house red or white," Tara said.

For a dining deal at Violet in Santa Monica, there's only one number to remember.

"It's seven-by-seven. It's something we started doing a few years ago, and it's essentially happy hour. We do seven dishes, and each one's $7 until 7 p.m.," said Jared Simon, executive chef of Violet.

"Mac-n-cheese is one of Jared's specialties, absolutely, as is the grilled romaine, really delicious. They also have short ribs, mussels, a whole variety of foods," Tara said.

Homemade recipes from southern Thailand are the specialty at Jitlada Thai Cuisine in L.A.

Jazz from Jitlada said the mussels and the catfish salad are the most popular at the restaurant.

"Most of the things on the menu, at least 50 percent, are under $10. Certainly, the majority of the menu is under $15, and when you come in a group and order like we have, it just makes it a great dining deal," Tara said.

Hungry for Mexican? Head to Mijares in Pasadena.

"Every weekday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., there is a lunch special for $9.50 for adults, $4.95 for kids. Basically, all you can eat, includes taco, two choices of two entrees that change daily, as well as dessert," Tara said.

Rounding out the Citysearch top 7 dining deals in L.A. are Tender Greens in Culver City, Third & Olive in Burbank, and Ragin Cajun Café in Hermosa Beach.

In Orange County, try Capital Seafood in Garden Grove, in the Inland Empire, there's Saca's Mediterranean Cuisine in Claremont, and in Ventura County, try Natural Café in Newbury Park.
