Top 7 Valentine's Day events in L.A.

LOS ANGELES For fine dining on the Malibu pier, the Beachcomber Café is all about attention to details for its Valentine's Day celebration. For $79 per person, the four-course dinner includes a heart-shaped starter, oysters on the half shell, choice of filet or seafood, and chocolate covered strawberries. The special Valentine's Day dinner will be served from 4:30 p.m. to close.

"I think that's quite a bargain," said Citysearch Editor Mar Yvette. "I know times are tough, but they're going to have a red carpet that extends outside, so when the couples come, they're going to snap your photo, give you a fabulous glass of champagne and you have your wonderful, delicious, fresh meal."

Taste on Melrose is serving up an "aphrodisiac menu." The three-course meal will run you $49 per person.

"They'll have stuff like for starters, they'll have a choice of like a soup or the Ahi tuna tartar," said Yvette. "And then they're going to have the main entrée -- either like filet mignon, they're going to have halibut. And of course, they're going to have this wonderful chocolate dessert, which is chocolate cake with Chambord liqueur and chocolate granache."

Reservations are also filling up fast for The Lobster at the Santa Monica pier.

"This is a really great bargain," said Yvette. "It's only $35 to $40 a person. So you're really not going to be, you know, splurging here, but you're going to get a great meal. It's a three-course. You're going to get an appetizer, an entree, and dessert."

If you do want to splurge, for $120, romance your date over four courses of fine French cuisine at La Cachette.

"This is the place where you really want to do it up right," said Mar Yvette. "They're also going to have an a la carte menu on Sunday the 15th, so if you don't do Saturday, you know what, come on Sunday and enjoy dinner with your sweetie. Both nights will be seating from 5 p.m. to 10:30."
