No widespread area was affected, and the outages were widely scattered.
As of 8:45 p.m., Southern California Edison said 8,000 customers were affected by the outages. The most affected areas include Torrance, Palos Verde Estates, Newport Beach, the city of Industry.
About 3,500 Department of Water and Power customers, scattered throughout the metro area, were without power in the Los Angeles area.
There is no estimate of when power will be restored in those areas, but crews in the field are working around the clock to get it back on.
