Teenager killed in deadly Northridge crash

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. Police said the 17-year-old boy was sticking his head outside the car window when the crash happened on the 10400 block of Wystone Avenue at about 9:25 Friday night.

Authorities said there were three teens inside the vehicle. Officers said the 16-year-old driver lost control of the car, jumped a curb and crashed into the parked vehicle. Officers suspect the driver may have been under the influence of alcohol.

The victim was thrown from the car. Neighbors ran outside to try and help the teen and called for help.

"We knew something was bad. It was just noise. We came out and the poor kid was just laying there on the ground," said Lou Pene, who lives in the neighborhood. "I'm assuming he wasn't seatbelted in, because he just flew out of the car."

The driver and another 16-year-old passenger were not injured in the crash.
