Lady Gaga tweets about Ariz. immigration law

August 2, 2010 12:00:00 AM PDT
Lady Gaga used a performance in Phoenix, Ariz., to speak out against the state's new immigration law.

Despite a temporary hold on the law's most controversial provisions, many performers are choosing not to play there at all. Gaga didn't cancel her concert, but just before she went on, she tweeted, "Tonight, we will continue to actively protest social and political injustices in Arizona. We will stand up, we will be heard."

Rage Against the Machine is refusing to play in Arizona. The band held a concert in Los Angeles last month to raise money for groups fighting the law.

While critics of SB 1070 say the law promotes racial profiling, deputies in Maricopa County say they only stop people when they have probable cause.
