Violent dreams may indicate brain disease

August 6, 2010 12:37:46 AM PDT
It seems vivid, violent dreams may actually be an early warning sign of brain disease, according to a new study.Researchers say it centers on a mysterious sleep disturbance called REM sleep behavior disorder, or RBD.

People with RBD don't experience the normal muscle paralysis while they dream, so they act out their dream's punches, twists and yells.

Researchers say follow-up studies showed a striking number of these patients later develop diseases including Parkinson's.
