GERMANY --Residents of a small town in Eastern Germany woke up to find that part of their neighborhood was sinking into the ground. A crater, one hundred feet wide, opened up and swallowed a garage and car.
Six homes around the sinkhole had to be evacuated, but fortunately, no one was hurt.
The reason for the open crater is unknown.
Geologists think an underground rock formation may have broken, creating the giant cavity.
