Oprah Winfrey launches OWN cable network

NEW YORK

In a one-hour preview episode that aired at noon EST, Winfrey gave an overview of the live-your-best-life fare she will broadcast across the network's schedule.

OWN is replacing the Discovery Health network and will initially be available in more than 80 million homes. OWN is a joint venture between Harpo Inc. and Discovery Communication.

The startup cost for the network is reportedly $189 million.

In June, Winfrey ends her wildly successful weekday syndicated show after 25 years.
