Sabor cilantro recalled over salmonella fears

SALINAS, Calif.

Sabor Farms in Salinas announced the /*recall*/ Friday.

The cilantro was sold between Jan. 14 and Jan. 28 under the labels Nature's Reward, Ocean Mist, Tanimura & Antle and Queen Victoria.

Sabor Farms says the products were on store shelves in California and several other states.

The company says the contamination was detected in a routine surveillance sample at its facility in Salinas.

No illnesses have been reported.

Salmonella poisoning is one of the most common foodborne illnesses but can be dangerous for those with weak immune systems such as infants and the elderly.

Symptoms of salmonella poisoning can include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever.
