Eric Clapton to auction off guitars for rehab

HOLLYWOOD

Clapton is auctioning off dozens of his personal guitars and amplifiers. The auction starts March 9. Some of the guitars are expected to sell in the $25,000 range.

"It's a fantastic collection," said Carey Wallace from Bonhams & Butterfields, where the auction will be held. "The most exciting thing about it is it's the first time ever Clapton's collection of amps have come onto the market. He's had two auctions of guitars in the past, but this is the first time he's put his amp collection up."

All the money raised by the auction will benefit Crossroads, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center in Antigua.
