According to the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office, the 47-year-old actor was arrested at 6:33 a.m. on Saturday. Official records show he had been released from custody as of 11:30 a.m. PT. He is due in court May 31.
Police say Cage and his wife, Alice Kim, were in the French Quarter when they got into an argument over whether the house they were in front of was theirs.
Cage apparently became violent, grabbed his wife's arm and hit some cars as the two tried to get into a taxi.
A police officer told Cage to get out of the vehicle. At that point, the actor apparently began yelling at that officer.
Cage has been married to Kim, for nearly 11 years. The two have a 5-year-old son.
