Italian researchers said seeing slim models acts as an incentive to stay trim. But, they said having severely thin models is not the answer.
They also said that allowing plus-sized models to become the norm may increase the obesity problem.
"Something that is going to influence how people behave, we should care about it," said author and research fellow at University of Bologna Dr. Luca Savorelli. "And think with the moral ground that recognizes what the policy maker is doing."
In another somewhat related study, researchers in the Journal of Consumer Research said people eat more indulgent food after seeing someone who is overweight, unless they consciously think about their health goals.
