Johnny Depp made honorary member of Comanche tribe

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.

According to one tribe member, the tribal chairman presented Depp with a proclamation at her Albuquerque home. She said the Comanche adoption tradition means she now considers Depp her son.

Depp's spokesperson confirms the actor participated in a ceremony, but she declined to give any further details.

Depp is in New Mexcio shooting a film adaptation of "The Lone Ranger." He's playing the ranger's Native American sidekick, Tonto.
