Australia mom finds python coiled around toddler

LISMORE, NEW SOUTH WALES

Tess Guthrie said she heard her cat hissing in the middle of the night. She went to her 2-year-old's room and saw the big snake in her daughter's bed. It was curled up next to her arm and started biting the little girl's hand.

Guthrie grabbed the python and threw it on the floor. She took her daughter, who had three bites, to the hospital. The girl is expected to be OK.

"They found the snake sort of behind the bedside table and in between the wall, but I don't doubt it was underneath the bed for days," Guthrie said.

Animal control removed the python and released it back into the wild.
