The incident occurred in the 1200 block of Petit Avenue around 6:54 p.m.
According to Ventura police, two subjects in a white truck approached the elderly female. One of the suspects pushed the victim to the ground while the other suspect stole her bags of aluminum cans and placed them in the back of the truck.
The victim suffered major injuries as a result of the attack and was transported to Ventura County Medical Center for medical treatment.
The suspects, identified as two Hispanic males, fled the scene and were last seen leaving a parking lot towards Petit Avenue. Witnesses told police the suspects hit a fire hydrant as it left the area.
