$1.2 million worth of marijuana found on beached boat in San Clemente

The U.S. Border Patrol said nearly 2,400 pounds of marijuana was found on an abandoned boat at Calafia State park near San Clemente, Calif., on Monday, Dec. 5, 2016.

Authorities said more than a ton of marijuana was discovered on a beached boat at Calafia State Park near San Clemente.

U.S. Border Patrol agents said the haul, nearly 2,400 pounds, was found at about 3 p.m. on Monday.

Officials said several large bags were located throughout the abandoned 25-foot Bayliner.

Inside the bags were 82 cellophane-wrapped bundles of marijuana, according to authorities.

Officials stated the marijuana had a street value estimated at about $1.2 million.
