$5,000 reward offered for information leading to missing Laguna Hills woman

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. (KABC) -- The family of a missing Laguna Hills woman is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to her whereabouts.

Erica Alonso went missing on Feb. 15 after she got into a fight with her ex-boyfriend and left his Irvine home in the middle of the night.

Alonso's family says she met her former boyfriend for lunch on Valentine's Day, and the date lasted into the evening. They befriended another couple at the Sutra Lounge in Costa Mesa and went back to her ex's home in Irvine at about 1:30 a.m. Authorities say Alonso got into a verbal fight with her ex and left shortly after. She hasn't been seen since.

For more than two months, Isaac Alonso Jr. and his family have searched for his 27-year-old sister.

"I have my good days and my bad days," Isaac said. "Most days, I'm optimistic and I'm very hopeful that we're going to find her back safe."

Alonso's Honda Civic was found about a month later in Aliso Viejo, about a mile from her home in Laguna Hills. It was unclear how long the car had been sitting in the neighborhood, but sheriff's deputies say they found no useful evidence inside.

"We were all hopeful that we would get something out of it, but turns out not to be the case," Isaac said.

Investigators say there's been no activity on Alonso's bank accounts or her cellphone since her disappearance, and she has not been on social media, which her family calls unusual.

"Erica's a very outgoing person. She has tons and tons of friends. Erica is definitely not the kind of person to just go out and not contact with anybody," Isaac said. "We're hopeful that wherever she is she's safe and we're simply just trying to do our best to do everything we can to make sure she comes back."

Alonso's family raised about $3,000 and an Orange County Sheriff's Department reserve deputy donated another $2,000 for the cause.

"We're hoping this will spark something new," Isaac said.
