Chase suspect crashes motorcycle, taken into custody in Bell

SOUTH GATE, Calif. (KABC) -- A suspect led authorities on a chase through the streets of South Gate and other cities before crashing into another car and being taken into custody Wednesday night.

The chase started around 8 p.m. Authorities did not say what the suspect was being chased for, but he fled through the streets of South Gate, Huntington Park, Boyle Heights, Vernon and Maywood.

The suspect was fleeing through Bell when he struck another vehicle, crashing his bike. He quickly ran from police, weaving through alleys and tossing his helmet on the street. He hopped a wall, but an officer was right behind him and tackled him.

The man was then taken into custody. It was unclear what prompted the chase.
