HEMET, Calif. (KABC) -- Police in Hemet are searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck a 94-year-old man on an electric scooter Friday.

The man was severely injured after being hit in the 600 block of East Oakland Avenue around noon.

Witnesses say he was trying to cross the street when an Oldsmobile ran into him. The driver allegedly stopped long enough to help the man out of the roadway, but then got back into his car and drove off.

The man was flown out to Riverside County Regional Medical Center for several injuries, including a broken leg.

The hit-and-run driver was described as a Hispanic man in his early 20s with black hair and a mustache. Police suspect he may have been riding with an older woman with white hair.
