Officer, two others injured after Pasadena police open fire; no one struck by gunfire

PASADENA, Calif. (KABC) -- Three people, including an officer, were taken to a hospital after Pasadena police opened fire Thursday night, authorities said. None of the injuries were caused by gunfire.

The incident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. in the 200 block of North Oakland Avenue, according to Pasadena police Lt. Monica Cuellar, who spoke during a news conference.

Cuellar said an officer, a driver and a passenger were injured and transported to a hospital. All three suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening, and no one was shot.

Police said they were conducting an operation in the area when the incident occurred. Additional details were not immediately available.

Video from AIR7 showed an Audi SUV riddled with bullet holes. The vehicle also appeared to have been involved in a collision with a pickup truck.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
