Saudi prince arrested in Benedict Canyon for alleged sex crime

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A Saudi prince was arrested at a massive estate in Benedict Canyon Wednesday afternoon for an alleged sex crime, authorities said.

Majed Abdulaziz Al-Saud, 29, was arrested for allegedly forcing oral copulation with a woman, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. He was taken into custody at 4:10 p.m. in the 2500 block of Wallingford Drive.

Neighbors said a number of high-ranking LAPD investigators were at the scene Wednesday.

A resident reported seeing a bloodied woman screaming for help, trying to climb the property's 8-foot-high fence. LAPD investigators said the Saudi prince tried to force the worker to perform a sex act on him.

The department's Special Consul Liaison Division said Al-Saud does not have diplomatic immunity.

"There are various types of diplomatic immunity. You have full immunity, partial immunity. Some immunity is handled through the course of a person's employment," said Officer Drake Madison of the LAPD. "A lot of that depends on which direction the State Department has us go, but we're guided by them."

Neighbors said Al-Saud is renting the massive 22,000-square-foot compound, which is valued at an estimated $37 million.

Al-Saud was released Thursday after posting $300,000 bail. He is facing a charge of forced oral copulation.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 19.
