Skateboarder, 17, killed by hit-and-run driver in Bell
Bell police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a teenager as he crossed the street on his skateboard Saturday night.

BELL, Calif. (KABC) -- Bell police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a teenager as he crossed the street on his skateboard Saturday night.

The incident occurred in the 3800 block of Gage Avenue at about 11:20 p.m. Witnesses at the scene said the driver stopped and glanced at the body before taking off.

Joshua Maldonado, 17, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities are looking for a Mitsubishi Galant with damage to the front end and windshield. Anyone with further information was urged to contact the Bell Police Department.

Grief counselors will be at Bell High School on Monday to help students cope with the loss of their classmate.
