NEW YORK -- Four people are under arrest after a violent attack on the New York City subway in which a woman was slapped by a man who she was verbally attacking.

The hit knocked the woman back at least five feet as another man stepped in to help.

Minutes earlier, the video shows the woman, with her two girlfriends egging her on, verbally harass the man wearing an 8 Ball leather jacket.

It happened on a Washington Square station bound F train over the weekend.

All four people have been charged with assault and disorderly conduct.

The suspects are identified as 25-year-old Jorge Pena, 21-year-old Kevin Gil and 20-year-old Shanique Campbell. The fourth, Banay Howard, is charged with assault as a felony because she used her shoe.
