A woman was killed in a high-speed crash near MacArthur Park in the Westlake area of Los Angeles early Saturday, police said.

WESTLAKE, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Police said a woman was killed when her speeding vehicle crashed into a curb, overturned and then caught fire before slamming into a wall and several parked cars near MacArthur Park in the Westlake area of Los Angeles.

The crash was reported shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday near W. 7th and S. Lake streets.

Authorities believe the woman was driving westbound on W. 7th Street at a high rate of speed, lost control, crashed into a curb, bounced off the corner sidewalk, crashed into a building and then flipped over onto the two parked cars.

The woman, who likely died on impact, has not been identified pending notification of next of kin, authorities said. She was not wearing a seatbelt.

Her vehicle was found wedged between two parked vehicles. A tow truck later flipped the woman's charred car over.

Authorities said the vehicle left skid marks on the street and may have been going as fast as 70 mph. The crash left a hole in the stairwell of the building.

Mario Bradley's car, which he uses daily as an Uber driver, was damaged following the crash but he still expressed his condolences to the woman's family.

"It's not about the car. It's about the person who lost their life. I know how it feels to lose a loved one, so that's the most important thing," he said.

The investigation is ongoing.
