NEW YORK -- The New York Police Department corralled a runaway cow that got loose from a New York City slaughterhouse Thursday afternoon.

The incident happened in Jamaica just after noon. Eyewitnesses spotted the bovine running through the streets.

Police responded to the scene and cornered the cow in a parking garage.

Officers were able to harness the heifer without incident, and no injuries were reported.

It is believed the cow escaped from the Jamaica-Archer Live Poultry and Meat Market.
