RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KABC) -- A burglar made off with a register, laptop and cellphone early Thursday morning after smashing a glass door at a Riverside business.

The smash-and-grab burglary happened at about 5:20 a.m. at Made Shop at 6520 Magnolia Ave.

"As a small business owner, with any business owner, it hits really hard. It does make a big difference. It's changed the whole plan for the day and a lot of added expense that we account for as a small business owner," owner Rico Alderette said.

The shop is a collective of unique handmade items by local artists. Alderette believes the suspect may have been in the store prior to the break-in.

"He goes straight to the register. He looks to the side. That's what hurts is if he's been in here before," he said.

While the suspect got away before police arrived, he did leave behind images of himself on the shop's surveillance camera. Alderette posted the images to social media asking for the public's help identifying the suspect.

"I am really hoping that out there on social media someone recognizes him and lets the Riverside Police Department know," Alderette said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Riverside Police Department at (951) 787-7911.
