LOS ANGELES -- Right-hander Cory Rasmus and outfielder Daniel Nava were placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday by the Angels, giving Los Angeles 9 injured players.

Both players have left groin strains sustained on Monday.

Also on the DL are infielder Andrelton Simmons (ulnar collateral ligament tear in left thumb), right-hander Garrett Richards (ulnar collateral ligament tear in right elbow), left-hander Andrew Heaney (left forearm strain), left-hander C.J. Wilson (left shoulder inflammation), right-hander Huston Street (left oblique strain), outfielder Craig Gentry (right lumbar spine strain) and infielder Cliff Pennington (left hamstring strain).

Los Angeles recalled right-hander A.J. Acter and outfielder Rafael Ortega from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Left-handed reliever Neal Cotts, who signed a minor league deal with the Angels and began the season at Salt Lake, exercised an opt-out clause in his contract Tuesday and became a free agent.

"He's not joining us now," manager Mike Scioscia said.
