A suspected DUI driver led authorities on a bizarre high-speed chase in Los Angeles, stopping at times in front of cruisers and then fleeing again to resume the chase.

Authorities began chasing the suspect, who was driving a black SUV, around 10:20 p.m. on the southbound 101 Freeway.

As the suspect fled from authorities, they crashed into the back of one vehicle and sent it into the back of another one as they attempted to exit onto surface streets.

At one point, the suspect exited Alvarado Street not far from Echo Park and appeared to pull over. Authorities got out of their cruiser with guns drawn as the suspect appeared to throw out a baggie from the window.

After a few tense moments, the suspect chose to resume the chase and fled from police on surface streets. The person then got back on the southbound 101 Freeway, at times going more than 80 mph and weaving through traffic.

The suspect then exited near downtown and continued fleeing on surface streets. The driver again stopped for police for a few moments and then fled again.

The suspect eventually got onto the 10 Freeway before exiting again onto residential streets. As the driver turned onto another street, they T-boned a car and it caused the suspect's bumper to come off.

After stopping for a minute on Hollins Street near Whittier Boulevard, authorities stopped a patrol vehicle to face the suspect's vehicle and again the suspect drove away.

The suspect eventually got stuck in a Boyle Heights cul-de-sac and authorities blocked the person in despite the attempts to flee. The driver eventually began pushing one of the police vehicles until officers ran toward the vehicle and stopped them.

The officers then hopped over the car, tried Tazing the driver and then entered the vehicle, pulling the person out and subduing them onto the ground.

The person, who appeared to be a woman, was handcuffed and taken into custody but continued trying to fight with police.
