LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Rain was blamed for several crashes around Southern California Tuesday, including one that left a truck dangling over a freeway in Orange County.
The big rig was traveling eastbound on the 91 when it lost control for an unknown reason in the Anaheim Hills area. The truck crashed through a barrier and was hanging over the northbound 55 Freeway to the 91 FasTrak at about 3 p.m.
Two lanes were closed on the 91 East, and a SigAlert was issued for the area until further notice.
In Tujunga, slick roads were believed to be the cause of a three-vehicle accident that left five people injured at La Tuna Canyon Road and Foothill Boulevard at about 8:45 a.m. Four victims were in serious condition, and one person had minor injuries, authorities said.
Later in the day, a fatal traffic collision between two cars was reported at about 4:15 p.m. on Kanan Dume Road near the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu. Malibu sheriff's deputies said the accident was likely rain related. Kanan Dume Road was expected to be closed for about six to seven hours. Investigators reopened the road at 8:05 p.m.
The California Highway Patrol urged drivers to slow down and increase the following distance due to the wet roads.
