SANTA ANA, Calif. (KABC) -- Wild surveillance video shows a man fumbling an attempt at stealing a 12 pack of beer at a Santa Ana liquor store, then flying into an uncontrolled rage.

The incident occurred on Nov. 25 at Craig Liquor located at 1200 W. MacArthur Blvd.

The Santa Ana Police Department posted surveillance footage of the entire incident on YouTube.

The video shows the suspect walking into the business and asking the clerk for a pack of cigarettes. He then walks back to the store's refrigerated section and tells the clerk he's looking for a 12 pack of Coronas in cans.

The clerk walks to the refrigerated section to help the suspect find what he's looking for. The suspect and clerk both walk back to the counter, where the clerk rings the man up for the cigarettes and beer.

The suspect then lunges across the counter and tries to swipe the 12 pack of beer. However, the clerk doesn't let go of the beer, and that's when the suspect flies off the handle.

The video shows the suspect hurling multiple cans of beer at the clerk. Police said the clerk was struck by the cans, though that didn't appear to stop the worker from throwing something at the culprit in retaliation.

The suspect ran out of the store and fled the scene in a green SUV, investigators said.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his mid-30s, standing approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing around 200 pounds. Authorities also said the man has tattoos on both sides of his neck and on his right outer calf.

If you have any information about the identity of the suspect, you're urged to contact investigative specialist L. Delisle at (714) 245-8647 or Orange County Crime Stoppers at 1-855-TIPS OCCS.
